With all due respect to Jan Hunt, whether spanking as a disciplinary tool is effective or not, her arguments against it are not supported by sound logic or science. She makes generalizations based on what she had read. For instance the studies she cites are not studies based on parents who used corporal punishment the correct way (calmly and sparingly for only direct and willful disobedience). She also makes the claim King Solomon was an extremely cruel man! Did she know him personally? If she can't even interpret scripture correctly what makes one think she knows what she is talking about in relation to the ultra-critical task of informing parents on how to properly raise their children? I wouldn't take advice from this person on parental skills.
