Parenting like a super nanny can be simple and easy.  Successful parenting happens when you follow these guidelines:

1.  Have a family meeting once a week.  Tell the children you want to meet to share ideas on how to run the home and have a happier family.  During the meeting, ask them what rules they think they should follow.  The more they are involved in the decision making process, the more likely they will follow the rules they have agreed to instead of being told what to do.  See if they can tell you why each rule is important and how it will help them. Then, write the rules down and post them where they can be seen.

2.  Get your child's attention by making sure you have eye contact.  Calling to them across the room doesn't work as well because you don't have the eye contact.  Then, ask, "What did you hear me say?"  This will let you know if your child was really listening.

3. Be consistent.  if you're inconsistent in dealing with your children, they think it's okay to misbehave.  if you want a behavior to stop, you have to do the same thing over and over again, even if it means, stopping what you are doing and taking control.  if you are consistent and the same behavior continues, do something else. You have a super nanny within you; you can bring it our more by checking in on this blog for more parenting tips.
